IT’S THE END of an era in Cork hurling.
Seán Óg Ó hAilpín has played his last game, he announced last night on Off The Ball’s roadshow on Leeside.
No longer part of the intercounty set-up, the former All-Ireland winning skipper has decided to call it a day with Na Piarsiagh.
“That’s it for me now,” he said. “20 years done of club hurling now and happy enough with my lot. Let the new breed of Na Piarsiagh hurler drive on.”
Ó hAilpín won two Cork SHC championships with the northside outfit; first as a teenager in the 1995 campaign and then nine years later as captain.
He subsequently led John Allen’s Rebels to an All-Ireland in 2005.
