Spotify users have been getting refunds for complaining about having Drake's new album forced on them

OK, WE GET IT. DRAKE HAS A NEW ALBUM.

SINCE DRAKE’S LATEST album ‘Scorpion’ was released on the 29th of June, Spotify users have been noticing something strange.

Regardless of whether they’re obsessive Drake fans, have listened to Drake once, or have never even listened to the Toronto rapper once in their lives, their Spotify home page is flooded with playlists and recommendations that they should listen to his music.

The experience is best summed up by this tweet written by one Irish Twitter user, which has received over 65,000 likes.

One Reddit user got fed up, and decided to lodge a complaint.

This person was angry that they had paid for Spotify’s advertisement-free Premium service, only to log on and see dozens of advertisements for Drake’s new album.

They shared a transcript of their interaction with customer care, where they wrote:

I find it discomforting and dishonest of Spotify. I am not receiving the service I pay for.

Customer care told the person complaining that they “agreed” with his observation and that it’s a valid concern, considering that “we all have our own personal preferences when it comes to music.”

I appreciate your patience and understanding. Fingers crossed, this will be taken action as soon as possible. I personally don’t like seeing just one artist, too, on my app.

Clearly this employee isn’t feeling ‘Scorpion’ either. Once the issue was resolved, the transcript was shared on Reddit so that other users could take similar action. According to Billboard, some people have been given refunds while others have been given vouchers for a free month of Spotify Premium to use in the future.

Spotify haven’t issued an official refund policy yet, and according to Reddit although many people have received refunds, not everybody has been successful their money back.
