It looks like the new Star Wars will be filming at this stunning West Cork location

And it looks the part.

YESTERDAY IT WAS confirmed that the next Star Wars movie is indeed coming back to Ireland to film on the Wild Atlantic Way.

And Irish film website TheMovieBit.com has seen documentation that suggests that at least one of the Star Wars filming locations will be Brow Head in West Cork.

And it’s some spot

Head of physical production at Lucasfilm Candice Campos confirmed yesterday that various locations on the Wild Atlantic Way are set to feature in Episode VIII:

The beauty of Skellig Michael in the final scene of The Force Awakens was stunning and we know the new locations along the Wild Atlantic Way will prove to be equally as beautiful in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

TheMovieBit reports that the documentation for an unnamed movie project set to film at Brow Head matches exactly to that of the Star Wars production:

We’ve seen the filming proposal and it’s a pretty detailed document outlining the impact on the area right down to specifications for ports cabins.
According to the documentation, this seems to be a relatively long production. 12 weeks have been outlined for assembly, filming and disassembly of the sets and area. Filming will take place between 8am and 8pm on a privately owned parcel of land on the western side of the headland and a cast and crew of up to 200.

And the spectacular Brow Head certainly fits into the Skellig Michael aesthetic

Star Wars is not named directly in the notes, but the editor of MovieBit Vic Barry tells DailyEdge.ie that they are confident in their assessment of things – and the official documents say that the Brow Head shoot will be for an “established franchise”:

To the best of my knowledge there is no other production filming in the area and even if so, certainly not at this scale. And past proposals for Star Wars in Ireland are incredibly similar.

So now. It looks likely that this stunning landscape in West Cork could see the shine of lightsabers sooner rather than later

Imagine.
