One of Dublin's swankiest nightspots is up for sale

Sams Bar, a hotel, a spa and a restaurant are all on sale together.

ONE OF DUBLIN city centre’s well-known nightspots is up for sale along with an attached guesthouse, spa and vacant restaurant.

Receivers PWC have placed The Dawson on sale with a guide price of €15 million.

The property is located on Dawson Street and includes two separate buildings.

The buildings are home to nightclub Sams Bar, a 36 bedroom guesthouse, the Dawson Brasserie as well as a vacant restaurant in the basement that used to be home to Faat Baat.

The four storey lot is being sold together and has a total space of 3,300 square metres.

It’s located across from the The Mansion House with Tom Barrett of Savills saying that the agency expect significant interest given the property’s location and name.

“The Dawson represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of Dublin’s most substantial licensed premises, with significant asset management potential,” he says.

The property is being put on sale by private tender with potential bidders being given about six weeks to submit their offer.

Docklands

Meanwhile in another major property deal, An Post have sold their sorting office in Dublin’s Docklands to Irish-owned company New Generation Homes.

The firm, founded by businessmen Greg and Hugh Kavanagh and Patrick Crean, plan to turn the building into offices and a 100 residential apartments.

The 18,500 square metre building on Cardiff Lane is located next to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and just beside the Maldron Hotel.

The Marker hotel is also in a block adjacent to the building with Facebook’s European headquarters at St John Rogerson’s Quay also nearby.

Development at the site is expected to take between 2-3 years.

Following the sale of their office, An Post are planning a move to a custom-built facility in East Wall.
