THE INTERVIEW HAS made Sony Pictures $15m in online downloads, just four days after the company reversed its decision to cancel the release of the film.
According to the BBC, it was downloaded more than two million times as of December 27, earning around a third of its $44m budget.
Sony initially shelved the film after hackers threatened attacks on any cinemas who screened it, but then reversed its decision and gave the film a limited release in the US.
On Sunday, it announced that the movie would be available to download in the US and Canada on YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox Video and through a dedicated website, SeeTheInterview.com.
The Interview tells the story of two TV journalists (played by Seth Rogen and James Franco) who are granted an interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, only to discover the CIA intends for them to assassinate him.
North Korea has denied any involvement in the Sony hacks, which the US government is continuing to investigate.
