Irish people are thanking Harper Lee for making their Junior Cert enjoyable

RIP Harper Lee.

TODAY, WE SADLY lost author Harper Lee. The To Kill A Mocking Bird scribe died aged 89.

Lee won a Pulitzer Prize for her novel about racism in the deep south in 1961, and actor Gregory Peck picked up a Best Actor Oscar for the 1962 film.

But it was the inclusion of the novel on the Junior Cert syllabus that made sure so many Irish people know and love the author.

Former JCers took to Twitter to say that, though they were ‘forced’ to read the book, it ended up becoming one of their favourites

She truly was a literary ‘ledge’
