James Franco will be playing two characters – twin brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino – who become fronts for the mob in the city. Gyllenhaal plays Eileen ‘Candy’ Merrell, a Times Square sex worker with an entrepreneurial spirit who is drawn into the emerging pornography industry.

Later Live… With Jools Holland (BBC Two, 10.00pm)

Fresh from the 25th-anniversary celebrations of his landmark music show, Jools Holland is back for another series tonight. On the show tonight – the reformed LCD Soundsystem deliver tunes from their latest album, limbering up ahead of their three nights at the Olympia Theatre this week.

Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls (Channel 4, 9.15pm)

It’s the last episode in the series tonight for the six remaining celebs, and they aren’t looking too good as medical check-ups reveal they are now dangerously underweight and could even be at risk of organ failure. It’s no I’m A Celeb, really, is it?
