What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

This is the telly everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Inside the American Embassy (Channel 4, 10pm)

Being an American ambassador to anywhere at the moment is a bit tricky given who is in charge of the US. This new series was filmed over 9 months and in the first episode we spend 6 months with US Ambassador to the UK Woody Johnson. In the show we’ll see how Woody settles into life representing the most controversial US President in decades and how he copes as the Embassy moves across London to Vauxhall.

Brothers (TG4, 9.3opm)

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Tommy who is an ex convict who isn’t doing much with his life. When his soldier brother Sam (Tobey Maguire) is assumed killed in action, Tommy vows to take care of Sam’s wife (Natalie Portman) and his kids and proceeds to get very close indeed. Tensions rise though as Sam is found alive and Tommy grows jealous of Sam’s closeness with his wife when he returns home.

FIFA World Cup 2018 (RTÉ 2, 6.30pm)

We’re into the last round of group games which means for the first time, we’re having to deal with simultaneous matches. Iran can still go through with a win against Portugal who are the current European Champions and only need a point to qualify. At the same time Spain need a result against Morocco (who have already been eliminated) to make sure they qualify ahead of Iran. There are even more complicated permutations to come in other groups so it should be a tense and interesting week of football.

Everyone’s talking about.. Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor’s Wedding

Saturday was a big day for Millie and Hugo as they were married according to Hello at an estate in West Sussex owned by Hugo’s uncle… as you do.

The couple have known each other for a long time having met when they were 16. They famously dated on Made in Chelsea by as fans will remember, Hugo cheated on Millie with their friend Rosie which brought the relationship to a swift end. Rosie however was a guest at Millie’s hen party so I guess that’s in the past now?

Around 200 guests attended the reception for the wedding while the official ceremony actually took place 3 days previously for just the closest family and friends (so probably not Rosie). There’s no pictures yet but we suspect Instagram will be flooded with them in the next week or so.

Or flick over for..

  • Rise of the Planet of the Apes (E4, 9pm): Andy Serkis stars as Caesar, an ape who is unhappy with the cruel treatment of apes and leads a revolution against humans to stop genetic experiments on them.
  • Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (Sky Atlantic, 11.10pm) John Oliver tries to make light of the events of the last week in global news.
  • Versailles (BBC Two, 9pm) The period drama continues with Louis on the warpath against the rebels in Paris while Sophie’s loyalties are tested to the limit.
  • Love Island (3e, 9pm) Ellie seems to regret coupling up with Alex and Alex is about to get very pissed off about the whole thing if last night’s preview was to be believed.
