What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline this evening.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Rubberbandits Guide to 1916 (RTE 2, 9.30pm)

This guide to the 1916 Rising was originally aired on RTÉ One on New Year’s Eve. But for those who were out enjoying themselves, there’s another chance to catch it thanks to RTÉ airing it again due to overwhelming public demand. The two lads take us through a crash course in Irish history – culminating in the Easter Rising in 1916, and you’ll be pleased to hear that the documentary features their inimitable style throughout. H’on the boys. #Guideto1916

Clerys (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

The classic Dublin department store is no longer with us, but this documentary aims to tell the story of the iconic status it held in the capital down the years – as well following the lives of two former employees as they cope with its closure. #Clerys

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (TV3, 9pm)

The original movie in the James Franco reboot of the series is well worth a watch. The special effects are excellent and the relationship between Franco and Caesar the chimpanzee would bring a tear to your eye. Until you realise that things could get messy as it goes on. #RiseofthePlanetoftheApes

Everyone is talking about… the swearing on last night’s new RTÉ drama series Rebellion

RTÉ’s brand new 1916-based drama kicked off last night – which runs for another four episodes – and last night was all about setting out the character’s back stories.

But when one of them said f**k, plenty of people noticed – and wondered whether that was the done thing back in 1916 Dublin:

But the writers were quick to stress they had done all their f-word research and that it was 100% accurate.

We’ll see how this one develops.

Or flick over for…

Mrs Brown’s Boys New Year Special (BBC One, 10.35pm) More antics.

The Nathan Carter Show (RTE One, 10.35pm) All the country tunes you can shake a stick at.

The Undateables (Channel 4, 9pm) A new series of the documentary.

Rich Kids Go Shopping (Channel 4, 10pm) A clatter of incredibly rich young people lark about the shops, spending unnecessary amounts of cash.
