Here's what to watch on TV tonight: Thursday

Here’s the telly that everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Election 2017 (BBC One, 9.55pm and RTÉ One, 11.25)

Tonight’s the night: Corbyn vs May. After months of non-debate debates, dank political memes (see above) and some unexpected Labour momentum in the polls, we’ll see who comes out on top in the UK General Election. On BBC, David Dimbleby takes the helm for their extensive overnight coverage, while back home Miriam O’Callaghan, Bryan Dobson and David McCullagh preside. The exit poll will be published just after the ballot boxes close at 10pm – and could tell us a lot about how the night is going to play out. Staying up late? Good luck. Everyone else will find out the result thanks to whatever news alert they see when they wake up. Godspeed, all.

Mock the Week: Election Special (BBC Two, 10pm)

The election – but just with more banter. Dara O Briain returns with a timely new run of the topical comedy show, with Angela Barnes, Ed Gamble, James Acaster, Milton Jones and Tez Ilyas joining regular panellist Hugh Dennis to take a look at how the election has played out. Expect the word Brexit to be said approximately 297 times in half an hour.

Paula (RTÉ One, 10.15pm)

Denise Gough, Tom Hughes and Owen McDonnell star in the conclusion of the thriller, by Olivier and Tony-award winning writer Conor McPherson. Mac recovers from the attack, but faces repercussions at work. He continues to delve into James’s past, discovering stories of a troubled childhood. If you’ve been following along, this looks like it could be a dramatic ending.

Well, Michael Kelly to give him his actual name.

Spoilers throughout, obviously:

It’s a complex season, no doubt – and this makes it just a little easier to understand.
