A GROUP OF campaigners and porn industry workers are staging a face-sitting demonstration outside Parliament in London today.

They’re protesting a new law which bars pornography manufactured in the UK from including a range of activities, including female ejaculation and strangulation.

The Audiovisual Media Services Regulation, which came into effect this month, takes the rules that already apply to DVD and video pornography, and applies them to online videos.

This means that acts which are deemed non-consensual, abusive, violent or humiliating will now be forbidden – sometimes even where participants are ‘role-playing.’

According to the British Board of Film Censors guidelines (p 24), this includes:

  • material (including dialogue) which could encourage sexual abuse by involving adults pretending to be children
  • sexual activity involving a real or apparent lack of consent
  • inflicting serious pain or lasting physical damage
  • penetration by an object associated with violence
  • sexual threats, humiliation or abuse, with the possible exception of where there is a “clearly consenting role-playing game.”

It’s understood that around 500 protesters have converged outside the Parliament today, to engage in simulated sex acts.

Some opponents say the new rules are a violation of sexual freedom, and unfairly target female sexuality.

One of today’s protesters, Neil Rushton, told The Guardian:

They’re very sexist laws. These are very geared towards women’s enjoyment as opposed to men’s.
