There’s a lot going on in burger land, people.

TRADITIONALLY, A BURGER was a simple affair.

A patty of meat, accompanied by a bread bun and perhaps some vegetable garnish.

These days, however, they are taking on a life of their own.

Chefs around the world are getting creative with the burger, and it is going in some very unexpected directions.

Here are some of the worlds most unconventional burgers, which you will definitely want to try.

Spaghetti burger

WHAT IS IT: A mozzarella-stuffed meatball patty, red sauce, and spaghetti cooked into tasty garlic butter buns.

Pizza burger

WHAT IT IS: Beef patty topped with cheese and bacon between two glazed donuts.  Named for Luther Vandross who may or may not have invented them.

REVIEWS: Good!

WHAT IT IS: A burger with a honey mustard sauce, melted cheddar cheese and applewood smoked bacon all on a pretzel bun.

REVIEWS: Very good.

Lasagne Burger

WHAT IT IS: A meatball seasoned beef patty topped with cheese and marinara sauce between two deepfried slices of mozzarella and ricotta lasagne.

REVIEWS: ‘Mindblowing.’

Alas, none of these burgers are available in Ireland at present, so there is just one thing to say.
