LAST NIGHT, THE recipients of this year’s New Year Honours were revealed.
Among the notable figures to be bestowed with honours are Andy Murray, Mark Rylance, Anna Wintour, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah.
Oh, and Victoria Beckham.
Beckham was appointed OBE for her services to the fashion industry and this has really riled a lot of people up for some inexplicable reason.

So, what has Victoria Beckham done to receive an OBE?
- She was a member of the best-selling female pop group of all time.
- She is a hugely respected fashion designer, who has picked up awards at the British Fashion Awards, guest-edited French Vogue and is estimated to be worth over £60 million.
- She is a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
- She was appointed UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador in September 2014, having worked extensively with HIV-related causes over the course of her career.
- She has been honoured by amfAR for her “exceptional contributions to the global struggle against HIV/AIDS”.
- She was entered into the NSPCC Hall of Fame in 2004 for her charitable efforts.
- She and her husband run the Victoria and David Beckham Children’s Charity, which has used funds to purchase wheelchairs for disabled children in the past.
- SHE’S BLOODY POSH SPICE!
In other words, she hasn’t been sitting on her arse doing nothing for the past 20 years.
Sure, you might say that she’s just a former pop star who used her fame to create a fashion brand. But if it were that easy to forge an empire, why don’t all ex-pop stars do it?
Maybe, just maybe, Victoria Beckham is a talented, creative designer with a keen business acumen who deserves recognition for her work. (It might not be as taxing as kicking a football around, but you know.)
Pop star, fashion designer, businesswoman, philanthropist — sounds like OBE material to us.
