A WATERFORD GAA club says it will rebuild its clubhouse “brick-by-brick if necessary” after it was destroyed by fire overnight.

The fire at St Saviours GAA was one of two that occurred overnight in the Ballybeg area with the local Youth Resource Centre also gutted by fire.

Gardaí are treating the two incidents as suspected arson attacks, but are currently awaiting the results of a technical examination of the scene.

Members at the club just outside Waterford City have described the devastation as “heartbreaking”.

The only club in the locality was this morning forced to cancel training for their nursery teams with the club posting on its Facebook page that members are ‘devastated’.
