Crowds enjoying the good weather today at Sandycove, south Dublin.

MET ÉIREANN HAS recorded the highest temperature of the year to date — with a value of 27.7 degrees reached in Oak Park, Carlow today.

That just narrowly beats the previous record for the 2014, of 27.1.

We might want to enjoy it while it lasts… Fresher conditions are being forecast for tomorrow, with temperatures much lower, hovering between 18 and 22.

There’ll also be heavy rain at times, according to Met Éireann “but a clearance in the west later in the morning will spread eastwards during the afternoon”.

Similar conditions are expected on Sunday, with temperatures staying in the high teens to low 20s until at least Wednesday.
