App of the week – Tinder:

This new app is taking college campuses in the US by storm according to Business Insider. Tinder takes the traditional (and frankly cruel, if you ask us) ‘hot or not’ idea and gives it a purpose – to bring attractive people together.

Users rate others based on a photograph and when two people give each other the green light, they get a notification to tell them they’ve got a match. Then the rest is up to them…

Gadget of the week – Facial recognition blocking goggles:

If you don’t mind looking a little ridiculous, this handy gadget will help you to avoid unexpected photo tags on social media. The glasses block facial recognition software used by the likes of Facebook, restoring your sense of privacy, Live Science reported. Apparently it doesn’t interfere with your vision…

Trend takeover of the week:

By analysing activity on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media, IBM has predicted that Steampunk will be the next big retail trend in 2014. Now, if only we could hitch a ride to the future on a steam-powered time machine to see if they’re right…

MEGA launch of the week:
