What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Great British Bake Off (BBC 1, 8pm)

A staple in our TV viewing schedules and a staple in killing our diet. The remaining bakers take on baklava, German Schichttorte. What? Apparently, that’s ‘a cake cooked in stages under the grill to create 20 layers of different-coloured sponge’. Yeah, good luck with that. #GBBO

The Paedophile Hunter (Channel 4, 10pm)

Internet vigilante Stinson Hunter attempts to catch online paedophiles by having his associates pose as children on social media to lure them into a confrontation. Bound to be interesting but tough watching. Nick Mirsky, head of the Channel’s factual programming, said it is “the most important documentary on Channel 4 this year”.

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (RTÉ One 9.35pm)

Judi Dench and Bill Nighy star in this retiree comedy. The couple head to India to live in a luxury hotel but discover that it’s not as glam as it looked in the ads. Story of our lives. One to watch with the mammy.

Everyone’s talking about: The Apprentice UK

It’s coming back and we’ve finally got a date to look forward to. Lord Sugar took to Twitter to announce that the addictive reality series would be returning to our screens with a double bill on Tuesday October 14 and Wednesday October 15 on BBC One.

The 10th season of the show will air on Wednesdays at 9pm after the initial double bill, and Sugar has promised some special birthday celebrations.

Or flick over for…

Champions League Live (RTE 2, 7.30pm) FC Basel take on Liverpool.

Rachel Allen: All Things Sweet (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) Yum yum dahling. Rachel makes custard cake and mango and lime drizzle cake.

Downton Abbey (TV3, 9pm) New episode of the period drama, and by drama, we mean drama.

X Men The Last Stand (E4, 8pm) Hugh Jackman and the LADS Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan bring the Marvel tale to life. Enough said.

Grand Designs (Channel 4, 9pm) A couple want to build an ‘urban shed’, and we want to find out what that is.

Maisie Williams and Ed Sheeran confirmed for this week’s Late Late Show>
