THE X FILES may be making a comeback, we learned at the weekend.
Fox TV executives are currently in talks to reanimate the show - with the original cast of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Mulder and Scully - for our screens.
So let’s take this moment to remember a few things about the wondrous original you may have forgotten…
1. Just how very, very 1990s it was
2. The theme music being so monstrously popular, it was an actual top ten chart hit
Literally thousands of people went out and bought this. On CD or cassette single. And let’s not forget the trance remix, which also broke the top ten independently.

4. Oh, and accidentally caused Breaking Bad
An instalment called Drive – season six, episode two - saw Mulder encounter an apparently deranged man who believes his head will explode if he travels at less than 50mph.
The episode was written by Vince Gilligan, and featured Bryan Cranston as the man in the car. His performance impressed Gilligan, and later convinced AMC executives to cast him in Breaking Bad.
5. That, in between being terrifying and making you hide behind your mam’s sofa, it was often pretty funny
Like when it referenced Mulder’s embarrassing encounters with porn

And also had a whole set of in-jokes about Elvis
OK, all the jokes were really at Mulder’s expense.
6. That it inspired a large community of people to write erotic X Files fan fiction
