WIMBLEDON HAS BEEN going on in the background of the World Cup, don’t forget.

Dublin’s own Aidan Turner took some time out from amazing audiences with his portrayal of an Irish terrorist in The Lieutenant of Inishmore to watch some of the action live.

He sat in the Royal Box during the men’s singles semi-finals alongside the likes of Jenna Coleman, Anna Wintour, and Bear Grylls.

Fancy, if you can get it.

Fellow Irishman Pierce Brosnan was also spectating with his wife Keely Shaye Smith

There he is now, looking well

Twitter was of course full of a deep unquenchable thirst for the Poldark star, but one fan noticed something interesting

Hold on.

I use the word ‘interesting’ loosely here, but I’m intrigued.

Has this lovely tie been seen before?

He knows we’re on to him.

Let’s look at Aidan at Wimbledon last year

He’s got the same companion in Irish talent agent Richard Cook, and yep, the same tie

According to his stylist, it’s a silk tie from Alfred Dunhill.

And the year before, in 2016

It’s the same one this year

To my untrained it, it seems to be this Dunhill knit mulberry silk design, which is only 150 pounds you’ll be glad to know.

Even if it does look like a sock.

Before you ask, no, he doesn’t seem to really wear it outside of Wimbledon matches, preferring plain ties or bows for formal events.

OK damn, who is he providing the luck for?

If we’ve learned anything from this, it’s that you have to be a big celebrity to get tickets to Wimbledon.
