AT 12, WE were struggling to juggle our after-school devotion to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch with our extremely lacklustre interest in extra-curricular activities, so we’re pretty much in awe of Allie Sherlock.
Not only making an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres look like just another day, the 12-year-old from Co Cork has now secured herself a record deal with none other than Ryan Tedder.
Allie, who came to public prominence last June, has gone from busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street to recording with a producer who lists Beyonce, Adele and Ed Sheeran among his artists.
As you do.
Filling Ray D’Arcy in on the whirlwind that has been her career trajectory so far, Allie explained: “He saw my video on Instagram and flew us over to collaborate, which is like song writing and recording.”
The Ellen Show had contacted us, I think two weeks before that, and we’re just doing some interviews over Skype and my dad told them that we were over in LA if they wanted me on.
The singer, who has shared photos of herself with both Ryan and Pharrell Williams on Instagram in recent days, confirmed she has signed a five-year, three-album deal.
“Had an amazing week with Ryan Tedder,” she told Instagram followers. “I loved every minute of it thank you for being so good and kind to me and my dad…looking forward to working with you.”
