The Oscars has apologised for mistakenly naming Amy Adams a nominee instead of Ruth Negga

Tom Hanks was also mistakenly listed in the Best Actor category on the official website yesterday.

IRISH-ETHIOPIAN actress Ruth Negga secured an Oscar nod yesterday to the delight of the country, but there was a brief bit of confusion during the announcements.

As the nominations were being read out, people noticed that Amy Adams had replaced Negga in the Best Actress category on the mobile site:

And that wasn’t the only mistake – Tom Hanks was listed as a Best Actor nominee for Sully, while Annette Bening was named in the Best Supporting Actress category for 20th Century Women.

As you might understand, this left people wondering which list was correct.

ABC (the network that airs the ceremony) has since apologised for the confusion, saying the nominations announced by the Academy on Twitter were the correct ones.

This morning, in an attempt to release breaking news as announced, ABC Digital briefly posted inaccurate nomination information on the website. ABC quickly identified and corrected the errors. We apologise to the Academy, press, and fans for any confusion.

The mistake was another blow for fans of Amy Adams’ performance in Arrival, which people think was unfairly snubbed by the Academy.

The actress has been nominated for five Oscars with no wins so far, and has been dubbed the ‘new Leonardo DiCaprio’:
