“I don’t believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave.”

AMY SCHUMER HAS taken to Instagram to defend herself after it was reported that she negotiated a higher fee for her Netflix stand-up speical upon learning Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock were paid more for their respective specials.

Earlier this week, Variety reported that the comedian was “initially paid about $11 million for her special,” but went back to Netflix and “flatly asked for more money” when it was reported that Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were earning $20 million per special.

While many supported the principle behind Schumer’s request for equal pay, others questioned whether she deserved as much as seasoned veterans like Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock.

Last night, the comedian took to Instagram to defend herself and clarify a few matters.

“Thanks for chiming in on what you feel I deserve to be paid,” she wrote.  ”I believe women deserve equal pay.”

However I don’t believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave. They are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time.

Hot dog dog. Thanks for chiming in on what you feel I deserve to be paid. I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don't believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave. They are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time. I would like to say that I have been selling out arenas these last couple years. Something a female comic has never done. That's a big deal to me, especially because I know I do my best every night on stage for the audience and they have a good time. I didn't ask for the same as my friends. I did ask for more than the initial offer. I will continue to work my ass off and be the best performer I can be. The reports of me "demanding" or "insisting" on equal pay to them aren't a true. #fat #stealsjokes

However, she went on to add that she has been “selling out arenas” over the past number of years and pointed out that was “something a female comic has never done”. She also clarified that she did neither demanded nor insisted on equal pay to either Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle.

It’s worth noting that Amy Schumer is close to both Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. Rock directed her comedy special for HBO in 2015, while Chappelle has performed alongside Schumer in the past.

No hard feelings then, eh?
