Let Cardi B explain why her overtly sexual image isn't synonymous with promiscuity

Stop sliding into her DMs, lads.

HARPER’S BAZAAR SAT down with rapper Cardi B recently to chat about anything and everything.

Here she is riding in a horse in what I’d imagine isn’t very practical footwear. But what would I know?

As it usually goes in interviews, Cardi answered some questions and evaded others, namely the one about whether herself and estranged husband Offset will ever get back together.

I don’t think so. Who knows? You never know, you can never tell.”

Who knows, indeed.

A large portion of the interview is dedicated to her aesthetic, be that in her music videos or beyond. There’s the well worn trope of what she wore to the interview (magenta leggings and a “playful Moschino sweatshirt”), as well as discussion on her plastic surgery.

Let’s be real here, Cardi’s never been one to mince her words, be it about her feuds with Nicki Minaj or how she feels about the current state of U.S. politics. When it comes to her sexualised image, and how it’s often misconstrued in the media and among audiences as being promiscuous, Cardi schooled.

Speaking to her nail artist Jenny Bui during the interview, Cardi said: “Just because I’m out there and very sexual doesn’t mean that I have to be whorish.

I like to have sex. That doesn’t mean I have to have it with everybody. Not that I judge women who want to have sex with the world.”

As a result, Cardi has been ignoring the hundreds of fellas swarming her DMs.

“I have a kid, and I’m also famous,” she said quietly. “So I can’t just sleep with anybody. People talk.

You know, if I date somebody in the industry, that’s another person in the industry. If I date somebody who is not in the industry, he might not understand my lifestyle.”
