CHERYL FERNANDEZ-VERSINI has come under fire today for comments she made regarding body-shaming.

In an interview with InStyle, Cheryl said that she was annoyed by recent speculation about her weight loss and called critics out for their “double standards”.

It’s crazy double standards. You’d never be allowed to say to somebody, “Oh, you look a bit fat.” And being overweight is unhealthy – it’s actually a bad message to tell someone who is obese that they look “curvy” or “great”.

The X Factor judge has endured a summer of rampant speculation about her weight loss and just weeks ago, she condemned body shaming and even called for it to be made illegal.

The body shaming has to stop. It’s bulls***. Something has to be done, changed, even if it’s done in law.

But her latest comments have people labelling her, well, a hypocrite.

For one thing, her argument that overweight people aren’t called “fat” has been called into question.

While others think her latest comments prove that she has her own double standards.

i.e. it’s a little bit rich for her to be giving out yards about body-shaming before going right ahead and shaming other body types.

As 2fm’s Louise McSharry put it…

However, some have stood up for Cheryl, including TV presenter Kirstie May Allsopp who said that we need an “honest debate” on obesity.

For her part, Cheryl has yet to respond to the controversy about her latest comments.

But we think it might be best if she just doesn’t say anything for a while.
