A total gentleman.

DANIEL O’DONNELL is the man of the moment after he confirmed yesterday that he plans to vote Yes in next week’s marriage equality referendum.

In O’Donnell’s inteview with Ray D’Arcy on Radio One yesterday he said he couldn’t see “what a Yes vote is going to do against anybody”.

His words have prompted people to share stories on social media about their positive experiences with the singer, with one story in particular capturing people’s attention.

A Sligo man, who doesn’t wish for his family to be identified, told of O’Donnell’s kindness one day about 18 months ago in Dublin Airport:

My cousin died in an accident in Seattle. His parents flew over to bring back the body. My aunt was crying in the departure lounge and Daniel came over and asked what is the matter. When she told him he stayed with my aunt and uncle comforting them.
When they got on the plane he insisted on swapping seats with them so they could fly first class and made sure they got everything they needed.

The man told DailyEdge.ie that while the family didn’t have further contact with O’Donnell after that, the incident showed that he is “clearly a total gentleman”.

Another woman also shared her story on Twitter, saying:

Daniel has called to our house for years to visit “his biggest fan”, my sister. Phoned her pre/post surgeries, sends Xmas card every year for 30 years, talks to her during concerts, mentioned her on Late Late once when very ill, will stand for hours after concerts so all fans get photos with him.
