Current wait times for an appointment at some civil registration offices can take up to several weeks.
A proposal would give the deceased’s family five days to visit a registration office after receiving the cause of death cert.
The new system would quicken up a process that is handled much slower in Ireland than in other countries and reduce lags in important data.
