You can now buy a dinosaur for €710,000

The huge skeleton was found by two young boys.

BIG JURASSIC PARK fan? Always wanted your very own dinosaur–preferably one that was already dead and couldn’t attack you?

Well here’s your chance. A 60ft long and 12ft high Diplodocus Longus fossil is up for grabs at an upcoming auction in the UK.

The skeleton–named Misty–is set to be auctioned next month, making it the first UK sale of such a large dinosaur.

Misty was found in 2009 by the two young sons of renowned palaeontologist Raimund Albersodoerfer and is now set to go for as much as €709,032 (£600,000).

According to CNN, Albersodoerfer was excavating a quarry in Wyoming and sent his sons, aged 11 and 14, off to dig around and get out of his way. The two young boys discovered an initial bone, resulting in a nine-week dig to uncover the full female skeleton.

She was named Misty after the ‘mysterious’ quarry and can be disassembled and reassembled as needed.

Great, it’s practically IKEA standard.

While the price may be steep, curator of the auction, Errol Fuller, told the Mirror that it would be hard to get a freebie.

You are talking about a very rare item indeed. Even if you were lucky enough to find one in the first place, the digging out and the preparation then involved is an enormous undertaking. The rock that it was embedded in would have been extremely hard to break away from the bones, and you couldn’t go at it with a sledgehammer because the bones were vulnerable to breaking.

Here’s Lindsay Hoadley of Summers Place Auctions in Billingshurst, West Sussex, giving Misty a little bath.
