The newspaper reported that a horse with a “long, luscious blonde mane” was spotted in eastern Mongolia and “soon earned the nickname Ellie Gelding”.

Fascinating stuff and not a tenuous association at all.

Unfortunately for Ellie Gelding (who deserves a plane in the Grand National for the name alone), Daily Mail readers weren’t super taken with her.

As for what Ellie Goulding made of it all? The pop star shared a screenshot of the story and had a perfectly succinct response.
