Couple use Haribo rings to get married after their wedding bands are stolen

How sweet.

WE ALL DID it when we were kids. Use a Hula Hoop or a jelly ring to pretend we were married. One couple in Kingsley, Northampton did it for real though.

Natalie Norris-Lee and her husband David had their rings stolen from their home just two days before the ceremony. Instead of buying replacements, they bought a Starmix and used the jelly rings for the wedding.

Aw. That’s the starter sorted, so.

According to BBC News, the couple had gone to bed last Friday and left their door unlocked for their son. They thought it would be fine as their dogs usually slept in the hall but they were in the kennel. The burglars found the rings set out for the ceremony, as well as photographs and jewellery belonging to David’s late mother.

But the bride-to-be didn’t want to replace them.

We’d spent so much time choosing our wedding rings, it didn’t seem right to have some other gold bands blessed. I just said to Dave I’d rather use Haribo sweets, so we did.

The jelly rings were blessed during the ceremony, but the couple had to snap a photo to remember them, as they started to melt in the heat.

The vicar was lovely about it, and happy to bless the sweets, but when they started to melt onto our fingers I had to ask if it was OK to eat them now.

Sweet, and more widely accepted than you’d imagine
