Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have named their daughter Esmerelda. We don’t yet know whether it’s after the character in Hunchback of Notre Dame. But anyway, the kid’s name is Esmerelda Amada Gosling. (TMZ suggests that the Amada bit was inspired by a character Eva Mendes played in a movie.)

George Clooney has apologised for Batman. The actor turned up at New York Comic Con by surprise, and revealed that he met original Batman Adam West backstage. And was forced to grovel for his portrayal of the man in black. Clooney said:
Since my Batman [movie], I’ve been disinvited from Comic Con. I met Adam West and said ‘Hey I’m really sorry. Sorry about the nipples on the Batsuit.’
