Here's why John Waters is 'trending' in Ireland today

An interview in today’s Sunday Independent has generated much debate.

FORMER IRISH TIMES columnist John Waters is once again the water cooler topic of the Ireland’s internet this morning..

The publication of an interview he gave to the Sunday Independent – his first since the Pantigate controversy – means that he is now one of Ireland’s trending topics on Twitter.

Waters’ Sunday Independent interview also details the fallout following the Pantigate controversy and Waters’ €40,000 financial settlement from RTÉ.

The payment was made after comments from Rory O’Neill – aka Panti Bliss – on The Saturday Night Show on 11 January.

In today’s interview Waters says that if the issue had gone to court he could have received a much higher payment from RTÉ – €4 million.
