THE LIVE ACTION ‘Barbie’ movie has found it’s Barbara Millicent Roberts in the form of Margot Robbie.

The Mary Queen of Scots actress is also on board to produce the movie, with Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich calling her “the ideal producer and actress to bring Barbie to life”.

“Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president,” Robbie said.

I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros. and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”

But wait a minute, what about Amy Schumer?

Schumer was originally tied to the project, but dropped out in 2017. But she’s not the only one who gave up the role – Anne Hathaway also quit the project after the release date was postponed. That bodes well, doesn’t it?

The ‘Barbie’ movie is said to be in the vein of ‘Splash’, ‘Enchanted’ and ‘Big’. In it, the main character gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough and lands in a real-world adventure. Weird, ’cause that’s exactly what happened to me at the club last weekend!

A release date for the film has not been set and no director has been named, but DailyEdge.ie will keep you updated on all developments as they come in.
