The Restaurant on TV3 Episode 4 Marie Cassidy

STATE PATHOLOGIST MARIE Cassidy was the celebrity chef on tonight’s episode of The Restaurant on TV3.

The channel came in for some criticism yesterday over a press release which included puns like “hoping to blow the diners away”, “dead set” and “a grave mistake”.

Another release today made a reference to “fatalities” and Marie’s ‘blood running cold’.

This evening’s episode, featured Seán Moncreiff on voice-over, managed to steer clear of any obvious tasteless puns, as Cassidy served up food for a room full of diners, and the celebrity critics Tom Doorley, Paulo Tullio and Marco Pierre White.

Marie’s starters didn’t go down too well, despite cooking the perfect poached egg:

However her main of lobster linguini was deemed by Tom Doorley to be “flawless”, “seductive” and “perfect”.

Seductive pasta. We’ve heard it all now.

Marco Pierre White meanwhile said he’d be happy to be served either of the mains in a Michelin Star restaurant.

I’ve done a few reality shows in my life and I’ve had a lot of cooks on those shows, and I think these two plates of food are the best I’ve ever eaten.

It was Doorley’s criticism of Cassidy’s desserts that brought a few Pathologist puns to the fore, with Marie exclaiming:

He just dissects things, doesn’t he?

And dessert chef Louise Lennox quipped back with:

I know, it’s a post mortem he’s doing.

Ultimately Marie Cassidy walked away with four stars, all this after exclaiming that a dinner party in her homeland of Scotland usually consists of a “bottle of Buckfast and a packet of crisps”.

Sounds alright to us.
