This woman was Photoshopped to hide her stomach - and Twitter responded beautifully

AMANDA LEVITT DESCRIBES herself as a fat activist.

She runs a website,, where she writes about the prejudice that fat people face. She does not believe that she, or anyone, should be made to feel ashamed of their body shape.

Levitt, who lives in Michigan, was interviewed by a local magazine about her activism. She says they Photoshopped a picture of her to make her look slimmer, and hide her stomach in a crop top:

So she tweeted a photo of herself in the crop top, with the hashtag #mybeautifulbody.

Soon, the #mybeautifulbody hashtag began to take off.

Dozens of Twitter users began to post photos of themselves, in a declaration of pride in their own body shape.

A lot of different stories were told.

But the emphasis was on positivity.

And a lot of love was shared.

You can check out all the tweets, and the discussion, at #mybeautifulbody.
