Top 10: Weird Patron Saints

It’s All Saints Day – so how better to mark November 1 than with a selection of lesser-known patron saints?

TODAY, NOVEMBER 1, is a Holy Day of Obligation for the Catholic Church, as All Saints’ Day. Coming on the day before All Souls’ Day, which itself is an occasion to remember those who have yet to make it to Heaven, ‘All Saints’ (as it is better known) is an occasion where Catholicism marks those who have attained the ‘beatific vision’ – that is, saints who have gotten to see God.

Of course, we all know that there are some saints whose patron causes are well known. Many will know that St Anthony of Padua, for instance, is the patron saint of lost items. But there are many more causes to be patron of – and, it would appear, enough saints to go round.
