A massive UK Facebook page really struggled with the subtitles on *that* Kerry bat video

Tough gig.

IF YOU’VE BEEN on Facebook over the past 24 hours, you’ll have come across the Kerry bat video.

It’s already iconic.

Tadhg Fleming captured his dad’s attempt to rid the family home of a bat, and the brilliant moment has been picked up on social media and viewed millions upon millions of times since.

“He’s making a mockery out of you boi!”

The video – such is its pure, distilled hilarity – started circulating on major Facebook pages – and the world was introduced to Derry, Tadhg and the wonders of the Kerry accent at a time of crisis

Obviously, the pages involved thought it would be a good idea to add subtitles – and the hugely popular UK-based Facebook page The Hook obliged. But, understandably, they got some crucial words wrong

It’s not their fault, really.

Near the start they mistake a stray “jesus” for:

subbies3

And then “bigger towel” became:

subbies4

“Maureen” is replaced simply by “Mummy”

subbies5

It’s hard to pick up Maureen said at lightning fast pace.

There are copious amounts of “Mums” thrown in too

subbies2

The poor person trying to subtitle the video thought “He’s making a mockery out of you boi!” was just an unfinished sentence

subbies6

Potentially the best bit, too.

But the most understandable of them all was mistaking “Derry” – his dad’s name – for:

subbies

It could very well be “Deddy!”, but no.

The LADBible, on the other hand, absolutely nailed their subtitles – with “Derry”, “Mam” and “making a mockery out of you boy” getting some deserved attention.

Valiant efforts, all.
