What a combo.

AS TICKETS BECOME increasingly scarce for the All-Ireland final between Mayo and Dublin in Croker over the weekend, people are starting to make alternative plans for the match.

And now there’s a VERY alternative option available.

There’s going to be an open air screening of the match in Smithfield on Sunday – with The Lighthouse Cinema showing the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory on the same screen beforehand

As report, The Lighthouse is putting on the event ahead of the match to celebrate the life of Gene Wilder – who sadly passed away last month.

The event’s Facebook page outlines what’s happening too:

In advance of Dublin City Council’s live screening of the All Ireland Football Final between Dublin and Mayo on Sunday 18th September, Light House Cinema are delighted to present a FREE Outdoor screening of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory at 1PM on Smithfield Square as a tribute to the memory of the wonderful Gene Wilder.

The Mayor of Dublin has been talking about creating a “miniature Croke Park atmosphere” in Smithfield – and Willy Wonka might just be the exact thing needed to create a festival atmosphere.

Throw-in for the match is at 3.30pm, with the movie starting at 1pm. It’s a strictly alcohol-free event – but it’s bound to be serious craic with this combination on show.
