There's a wind warning in place as gales hit 100 kph

AA roadwatch is warning of wind blown debris on roads across the country.

A WIND WARNING is in place until 9am this morning.

Gale force winds of up to 65 kilometres per hour hit many parts of the country overnight, with west and northwest coastal counties worst affected.

A status yellow wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry has been in place since midnight.

Gale force winds hit 100 kilometres per hour in some counties along the west coast overnight.

AA roadwatch is also warning that wind blown debris is likely on roads in many areas across the country.

Met Éireann is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds for the rest of today.
