Hospital grants dying woman's final wish to say goodbye to beloved horse

So many feels.

A 77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN suffering with cancer was granted her final wish to say goodbye to her favourite horse.

Sheila Marsh’s condition was deteriorating rapidly, so staff at the Wigan Royal Infirmary arranged for the show horse–Bronwen–to be brought to the premises so that Marsh could say her goodbyes before she sadly passed hours later.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Sheila’s daughter Tina said:

I was crying my eyes out and all the nurses were crying too. She took comfort out of it and it was a beautiful moment. She loved her horses and she loved and adored all animals. She had six horses, three dogs, three cats and other animals.

Marsh had raised Bronwen from a foal and previously worked at the Haydock Park racecourse.

The deputy director of nursing at the hospital said the horse was “obviously extremely important to her and her family” and the hospital staff felt “privileged to have been able to provide this support at this crucial stage of her care”.
