Rod Stewart's wife is under fire for saying that cooking takes away from men's masculinity

Penny Lancaster made her comments on Loose Women yesterday.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER drama.

Yesterday, Penny Lancaster, wife of Rod Stewart, appeared on Loose Women. During the show, the panel was asked if women are expecting too much of men.

Lancaster immediately replied, “I think so,” and embarked on a 40-second spiel on how she views the role of men.

She described how she values “the hunter-gatherer, the macho man looking after the family” and stated that she thought men’s role in the home was to be with the children and be a “strong role model”.

And not slaving over a spag bol.

In fact, Lancaster said that she thought cooking was a little emasculating.

But I think as far as cooking and putting the apron on, I think that kind of, not belittles men, but takes their masculinity.

The comment provoked quite the backlash with many criticising Lancaster’s views as being outdated.

Celebrity chef Yotam Ottolenghi described the remarks as “stupidity”.

While others pointed out that most professional chefs are, you know, men. (In fact, it is estimated that just 1% of Michelin chefs are women. So now.)

And there was this very important Google Image search.

Men who enjoy cooking piped up.

As did the women who enjoy their home-cooked meals.

Lancaster did have one person leap to her defence, though. Channel 4′s Kirstie May Allsopp said that people should leave well enough alone…

We think this person probably summed it all up best, though.

Amen.
