The Inbetweeners 2 proves to be a hit Ian West Ian West

THE INBETWEENERS IS no more and fans are in mourning.

The cast revealed to The Sun that The Inbetweeners 2 would be their final outing and that they will not be returning to either the big screen or the small screen. Simon Bird, who plays bespectacled Will, told the paper:

There’s no third film. This is genuinely our last interview ever. Ever, ever, ever.

Joe Thomas, better known as Simon, likened the announcement to “the fall of the Berlin Wall”, while James Buckley, who plays Jay in the series, cited age as a major factor in their decision to put their beloved characters to rest.

Physically, unfortunately, we’re ageing. The body clock is ticking.

The news has devastated fans and left many in mourning.

The Inbetweeners ran for three seasons on E4 between 2008 and 2010. During that time, it was twice nominated for Best Situation Comedy at the BAFTAs and spawned a disastrous US remake.

The series also spawned two films, The Inbetweeners Movie and The Inbetweeners 2. The latter grossed £35 million at the UK and Ireland box office this summer, and set records upon its release.
