Saoirse Ronan's dad lands in Carrigstown for his Fair City debut tonight

G’wan, Paul.

SOMETHING TELLS US Fair City ratings will go through the roof tonight as news drops that Saoirse Ronan’s father is set to make his Carrigstown debut.

The actor, who trained in New York, will be playing Anto Collins – Hayley’s father.

Paul, who has appeared in Love/Hate, Ballykissangel and The Devil’s Own over the course of his career, is set to create a distinct sense of unease in his role on the long-running RTÉ soap.

Speaking to The Irish Sun in recent weeks, a source within the show said: “The Collins family are set to make quite a stir.”

They certainly not The Waltons so viewers can expect to see lots of drama as Sharon and Anto join Hayley and Harmony.

Paul’s debut comes just two days after his daughter lost out on an Oscar to Frances McDormand at the 90th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

23-year-old Saoirse regularly refers to her parents’ experience with the entertainment industry, saying: “Ma watched dad lose out on parts or star in shows off-off-Broadway and make buttons.

She watched these really talented people never get the shot they deserved.

Fair City will air on RTÉ One at 8pm.
