JONATHAN CARROLL is an Irish lad living over in the US, where he is studying in Oklahoma with his American girlfriend of one year, Mary Francis Turner.
This year, he brought her home to Ireland – for her first visit to this country and a good old Irish family Christmas.
When they arrived at the airport, Ryan Tubridy was there presenting a special edition of his 2fm show. He interviewed Jonathan and Mary, and Jonathan seized the opportunity, saying:
Mary, I love you so much and it would mean the world to me if you would marry me.
Here’s that moment:
She replied “No. I mean yeah” (before confirming that she did in fact say yes).
Mary said she was “shocked” and “overwhelmed”, which only intensified when Jonathan revealed that he had even asked her mother for permission the week before.
Asked how the couple had met, Jonathan told Tubridy: “Robbed her off a friend, to be honest.” So there’s that too.
