TONIGHT, TV3′S NEW series Danger – Amanda At Work aired its first episode.
The series features Amanda Brunker trying her hand at a number of dangerous jobs. In tonight’s episode, she accompanied a number of fisherman on a deep sea trawler to see what it’s like.
To give Brunker her due, the programme actually did offer a number of insights into the life of Irish fishermen, but it did also contain a number of rather choice moments.
Think of it as Deadliest Catch with Amanda Brunker.
1. She describes herself as “friend of the odd celeb” in the opening credits
And then kisses Bono.
2. When this guy suggested that she might be better suited to “shore-based work”
Like in “a hairdresser”.
Burn.
3. When she asked this poor lad what his “first time” was like
And then clarified she meant his first time AT SEA.
Ohhhh! Hahaha, good one.
4. When she pointed at Howth and said it would be possibly the last glimpse of land she’d have “for a while”
(Not moments earlier, she had told us she was going for three nights.)
5. When she said that “all women” have thought about sharing a bed or a bedroom with several men at some point
“We all have to admit it!” – YEAH GIRLS, ADMIT IT.
6. Did we mention she wore his eye mask?
7. She was forced to confront the issue of fishing quotas and was appalled
“It’s a sin!” Amanda Brunker exclaimed as she was forced to throw away loads of cod. (Not a sentence we ever thought we’d be writing.)
8. She developed an intense hatred of dogfish
Even this guy, who stole the whole show.
9. She flirted with this young-looking fisherman
After remarking that he didn’t look old enough to be a fisherman for twenty years, he replied, “That’s all the salt water I’ve drank over the years”.
Oh, is that a thing? Please advise.
10. She looked on as one of the lads ate a fish heart for “good luck”
LIKE THE LEGEND HE IS.
11. And she was the happiest woman in Ireland when she was brought back to dry land
We feel you, girl.
