Angelina Jolie: School just isn't good enough for my kids

The Hollywood actress said she’d prefer her six children to stay home and “learn the guitar” – just a day after Gwyneth Paltrow advertised for a specialised private tutor for her own brood.

ANGELINA JOLIE HAS said she believes school education isn’t high-quality enough for her six children, adding she would rather they read a book or “learn the guitar”.

The actress, who has six children with partner Brad Pitt, added the conventional education system hasn’t “caught up” with her family’s international lifestyle. Jolie and Pitt currently divide their time between New Orleans and the south of France and are planning family trips to China and South America, she told the Independent.

Jolie, who is currently starring in Kung Fu Panda 2, said in the interview: “I do think we live in a different age and the education system hasn’t caught up with our children and our way of life.

We travel and I’m the first person to say, ‘Get the schoolwork done as quickly as possible because let’s go out and explore’. I’d rather them go to a museum and learn to play guitar and read and pick a book they love.

Her comments come just a day after Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin advertised for a live-in private tutor for their two children, offering a €65,000 annual salary and free accommodation in London for the right candidate. (The catch: you have to be able to speak ancient Greek, Latin, French and Spanish as well as playing two different instruments.)

Angelina and Brad’s children Maddox, nine, Pax, seven; Zahara, six; Shiloh, five and two-year-olds Knox and Vivienne were enrolled in the international French lycée system. It provides specialist teachers including one who can speak Vietnamese with Pax, who was adopted in the country. The couple also hired tutors from an African background to teach Zahara, originally from Ethiopia, the Independent reports.
