BEN AFFLECK IS the new Batman!

The 41-year-old will star as the Dark Knight in a new blockbuster which brings Batman and Superman together, Warner Brothers announced yesterday.

Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman from Man of Steel. The movie will also feature Man of Steel stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

It will be directed by Zack Snyder, who said in a statement:

(Affleck) has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.

The big-screen DC Comics superhero mash-up was first revealed by Snyder at last month’s Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Production on the as-yet-untitled film is expected to begin in 2014 for release July 17, 2015.
