Beyoncé is facing criticism for using audio from the 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster on one of her new tunes. The song XO features an audio clip from TV footage of the disaster – in which seven people were killed – with a NASA spokesperson telling viewers that “obviously a major malfunction” has occurred.
Beyonce’s use of the clip has been described as “inappropriate in the extreme”. However, she has defended it, telling ABC News: “The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten.” (ABC)
Brad Pitt didn’t write a bizarre love letter to Angelina Jolie. The letter was posted on a relationship advice blog last week and went viral, with hundreds of thousands of shares on Facebook. In it, ‘Pitt’ describes how he restored his relationship with ‘Jolie’ by showering her with love, concluding: “The woman is the reflection of her man.”
However, it’s a fake that’s been going around for years. (Buzzfeed)
Niall Horan is getting surgery done on his gammy knee. He’ll be flying off to the US for an operation to stop his knee dislocating, which obviously isn’t ideal if you’re in a boy band. One Direction’s management are hoping that he’ll be fighting fit for the band’s 2014 tour, which according to Forbes could be one of the highest grossing tours of all time. (ONTD)
