Bono has banned President Donald Trump from attending U2′s current North American leg of the band’s new tour.
The Joshua Tree 2017 Tour began in Vancouver on Friday night, and in Seattle over the weekend Bono didn’t hold back when asked if the new President would be welcome – telling The Mirror:
People who voted for Trump are welcome here but he’s not.
U2′s lead singer is apparently furious that Trump has cut funding in the fight against HIV:
Bill Gates will be here tonight, he will tell you ‘but that doesn’t work guys.’ He can’t level it off because people will die.
So I don’t wanna (Trump).
The tour, set to arrive in Dublin in July, is celebrating 30 years since the release of The Joshua Tree – with the gigs in Seattle and Vancouver giving us an idea of what the setlist will look like in Croker this summer.
Bono also revealed to The Mirror that U2′s new single was inspired by RTÉ pundit Eamon Dunphy:
Eamon Dunphy had a very big influence on our new single. He said when speaking of my missus that ‘Ali was the best thing about Bono.’ So we’ve written a song called You’re The Best Thing About Me.
Early draft titles probably included ‘I’ve managed to stay alive for 63 and a half years baby’ and ‘Niall Quinn is a creep’.
‘You’re The Best Thing About Me’ sounds like the better fit tbh. (Mirror)
Proving once again that Drake is never one to miss a party, the rapper turned up at the last minute to chaperone his cousin to her prom.

His cousin is Jalaah Moore and she goes to Fairley High School in Memphis.
So Drake was essentially a third wheel as Jalaah already had a date. Look at the three of them here:
TMZ report that Drake didn’t perform at the dance, but was with the pair for most of the night “hanging out”:
Drake flew in Saturday … ordered them a white Rolls Royce to drive them to prom, and also paid for their custom matching outfits.
Afterward, he threw Jalaah a party at Hard Rock for about 400 of her suddenly super-close friends.
For the record, Drake’s dad is Jalaah’s grandmother’s brother… so, making them second cousins.
Not a bad night out at all.
Her date might be raging that he was completely overshadowed – but sure look, a free matching outfit and an after-party are probably worth it.
