Incredible dive video shows WW2 tanks littering seabed off Donegal

The Empire Heritage transport ship was torpedoed off Malin Head in 1944, with the loss of 113 lives.

DOZENS OF WORLD War Two US tanks lie strangely upended on the seabed off Malin Head, Co Donegal, covered in weed and barnacles.

Shot by diver Rich Stevenson, this footage shows the wreck of the transport ship Empire Heritage which sank in September 1944. Some 113 people died when the ship was torpedoed by a German U-boat.

The Empire Heritage was carrying Sherman tanks, half-tracks and oil. Its remains – including huge steam boilers ‘as high as a house’ – now lie at a depth of 70m, according to Irish Wrecks Online.
