NEARLY A MONTH ago, Ed Sheeran broke a year-long social media blackout by posting a light blue rectangle to his adoring fans.

“What did it mean?” we all asked. Was he painting the gaff and needing advice on particular shades?

Further evidence came in the new year, when some lyric GIFs were tweeted on that same blue background

The official lyric videos have been on YouTube for about two hours, and have already received 500,000 views each.

And they’re going down fairly well

For Ed Sheeran fans, Christmas has come just a little bit later
